The cinema program Weltsichten will take place again this month on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the ODEON cinema! Kino Weltsichten is a cinema series of the International Women's Film Festival Dortmund | Köln eV and is carried out together with the SPHS – VereintMenschen.

Arrive in a country whose language you don't speak, whose culture is alien to you and where orientation is difficult. This is where the Cinema: World Views project comes in. Film has a universal language and connects people, because where it fails, images make something immediately clear, understandable and comprehensible.

Once a month, Kino: Weltsichten presents films that show the role of women in the most diverse countries and cultures. Seeing things together and the subsequent conversation are important to us. Openness, tolerance and curiosity are the basis of these film talks, to which everyone with and without a migration background is cordially invited.

With great ease, charismatic actors and a soundtrack that brings the three continents in which the film is set to life, the director shows the positive and negative sides of migration.

The paths of Sophie, Abdoulaye and Thierno crossed between Turin, Dakar and New York. 24-year-old Sophie leaves Dakar to live in Turin with her husband Abdoulaye. But Abdoulaye has already landed in New York with the help of smugglers. For the first time in his life, 19-year-old Thierno travels from New York to Africa, his mother's home continent. Here he meets the African part of his family for the first time. The director creates a contemporary picture of the situation of emigrants with all their hardships, hopes and dreams.
