The cinema program Weltsichten will take place again this month on Friday, January 28th, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the ODEON cinema! Kino Weltsichten is a cinema series of the International Women's Film Festival Dortmund | Köln eV and is carried out together with the SPHS – VereintMenschen.

Arrive in a country whose language you don't speak, whose culture is alien to you and where orientation is difficult. This is where the Cinema: World Views project comes in. Film has a universal language and connects people, because where it fails, images make something immediately clear, understandable and comprehensible.

Once a month, Kino: Weltsichten presents films that show the role of women in the most diverse countries and cultures. Seeing things together and the subsequent conversation are important to us. Openness, tolerance and curiosity are the basis of these film talks, to which everyone with and without a migration background is cordially invited.

The story of Nana, who pursues her need for freedom and independence, is told with quiet strength and subtle humor. A drama full of joie de vivre and a positive outlook.

On her 52nd birthday, the literature teacher Manana realizes how unsatisfactory her situation is. She lives in a small family apartment with three generations. She is constantly being used, but no one asks what she wants. Not her husband Soso, not her mother Lamara, not her married daughter Nino. Manana pulls out without further ado. She owes an explanation for this. The family is shocked: what should people say? Manana's brother even threatens her openly. Manana can finally breathe deeply in her new apartment, she is alone for the first time in her life.
